@1: General Tips

* If you don't have enough backup RAM, the game won't even let you play.
Oddly enough, when I went into the file manager, it stated that I had nothing
in backup RAM and I had to re-format the whole thing. Then again, I hadn't
used my Duo in a while. Take that as you will.

* You can't skip the blue "pillars" title screen. Just let it sit.

* People can only be afflicted with one status ailment at a time. If you
find your characters to be poisoned, then intentionally try to get
paralyzed/etc
during battle. It will override the long-lasting poison with a fast-fading
effect.

* To increase your maximum MP, you need to "tune" at an M house. Tune as
much, as early as possible, because the price goes up as you gain levels.

* You save at the M house, but heal at the Inn.

* Your characters are all custom-named. For the purpose of this FAQ, I call
them by their instrument of choice: FLUTE, TRUMPET, PERCUSSION, and VIOLIN.

1) Listen to the brat speak. Afterwards, grab 20 Beads.
2) Do the puzzle. You have to turn them all into one identical thing (I did
stars). Here's the trick though --- you need to do it so that they're all
the same AFTER you move one south of the lower left block. In other words:

[X][X]
[O][X]

There should be three of a kind, and you're standing on the oddball one.
When you step off the oddball block and go south, it should be:

[X][X]
[X][X]

Only then will the path north be cleared.

BOSS TWO: MEPHISTO
Tip: Heal with Flute, raise party defense with Trumpet, lower enemy defense
with Percussion, and attack with Violin. After several tries, Percussion's
spell will lower the enemy's defense by 8 instead of 10. When this happens,
shift everyone to attacking (healing when necessary).

4) Ignore the airship for now and go west, to the lake.

VII-D. Island-hopping
There's a lot of wandering you can do here. Below are directions that start
out pretty good, but turn kind of vague by the end. But at least they'll
point you in the right direction.
1) Go west. Sharks will appear, and you can walk on them.
2) From the first island, go south, then west. Grab the CODA NO GAKU.
3) Go west, north, east, north, west, south, and west to another island.
4) From here, there are two paths that lead south. Take the path on the
LEFT. It will curve west.
5) From the new island, go west. Then north, west, north. Grab BATTLE
CLOTHES.
6) Go east. There will be a point where you can go north, south, or east
while in the middle of the water. Go north a bit, then west. Keep following
the path as it bends until you reach an island with two flags. Take the
items. There's an exit on the south of this island. Take it. It will go
south, then west. There's some money here. Then exit west, and get
TARANTERA NO KIBA. Follow the path south, then east, then south, then west,
to reach the giant shark.

BOSS THREE: COUTI SHARK
The usual tactics: beef up your own defense, and decimate his. You'll be
rewarded with KAZE NO CHENBARO for your efforts. Then go south a couple
steps and east, to get out of this hellhole.

VII-E. Joyride
1) With your new goods, head back to town and heal.
2) Go back to the chopper and press Button II.
3) The portal to the northwest takes you to Kobodeko. The portal to the far
southeast is actually an entrance FROM Kobodeko.

|_______________________________________________________|

VIII-A. Guba Village
1) Park at the northeast landing pad.
2) Enter Guba Village directly north.
3) Stock up on the new weapons and armor.
4) Go up the left staircase, follow the path all the way down, and keep going
up the other side. There's a ski lift. Get on it, and then grab TARANTULA
NO KIBA, HONEY x2, and CODA NO GAKU.
5) Leave town.

VIII-B. Mons=Mons
1) Walk in a clockwise circle to enter monster town Mons=Mons.
2) Talk to everyone. There's a new weapon here, too.
3) Nothing else to do right now. Leave.

VIII-C. Fire Shrine
1) Head south slightly, then cross the series of western bridges.
2) Enter the cavern.
3) Head north until you see spinning people.
4) Watch the shrine priestesses turn someone into a monster!
5) Keep talking to priestesses until they all run away.
6) Go downstairs.
7) Head north to an intersection. Take the west path to another crossing.
8) This time, go east. Talk to people as you pass them. Go upstairs.
9) Uh-oh... you see a shark. Meanwhile, the platypusses give great XP.
10) Go east. Grab the HONEY.
11) If you go south here, you'll head to the Overworld.  Don't do that yet;
just remember this spot.
12) Go north through the doorway.
13) Go right and head downstairs.
14) Get LUCIA'S TEARS, GODHAND, HONEY, and IRON HAMMER.
15) Head down the right side to get 250 Beads.
16) Keep going south, down the stairs.
17) Go right and downstairs.
18) At the intersection, go FAR west and upstairs. Grab NEMURI NO SUNA.
19) Go back down. This time, go north at the intersection.
20) When you go downstairs, you'll see a scary-looking guy.

BOSS FOUR: GAIMAARU
This guy is actually a bit easier than most. Either that, or I was at a more
appropriate level. You should now also have the ability to boost your own
attack (using Violin's magic).

VIII-D. Back to Mons=Mons
1) Grab the KOBODE NO GONG and 800 Beads.
2) Just warp out of here, back to Guba.
3) Walk around to Mons=Mons.
4) Give the gong to the first mummy-man you see.
5) Everyone turns back into humans! The mummy runs off to Guba.

VIII-E. Kobodeko Overworld
1) Warp back to Guba and talk to everyone.
2) In the northeastern house, you'll get TSUUKOUSHOU.
3) Get back on the chopper. Head to the southwest landing pad.
4) Use the TSUUKOUSHOU on the gate to the north.
5) Head north and walk into town.

VIII-F. Luminos Village
1) You can buy some new weapons and armor here.
2) Grab HONEY and ASSASSIN KNIFE.
3) Go ahead and explore the castle. Talk to the King, etc.
4) Leave and walk counter-clockwise around the north.

VIII-G. Western Side
1) Enter the village on the west.
2) Grab HONEY, GEKKOU NO KATANA, and 200 Beads.
3) Leave and enter the castle.
4) Go up to the second floor and talk to the Queen.
5) This will open the gate to the South.

VIII-H. Marble Ruins
1) Go south and then bend west to enter the ruins.
2) Go northwest, then northwest again. A pillar will collapse.
3) Keep going north. Another pillar will collapse.
4) Keep going north. ANOTHER pillar will collapse.
5) Go west, then south. Grab the GRIFFON NO TSUME.
6) Go back north and east.
7) Go east, dodging the pillar. Trick: if you get into a battle, pillars are
restored to upright position.
8) Go down the near steps.
9) Go north, past the breaking pillar.
10) At the next chance, go north all the way. Then go west a bit, and south
at the first chance. Grab HONEY x2.
11) Keep going west, and grab RANA NO KUBI and HONEY from the next cul-de-
sac.
12) Go all the way east, and then south. You'll find a staircase up tucked
away in a corner. Take it.
13) Head south, grabbing CODA NO GAKU and BRASS SUIT along the way.
14) One way or another, get out of here and go back to the Queen.

VIII-I. Kobodeko Overworld
1) Talk to the Queen. You'll get CONDOR CANE.
2) Warp back to Luminos.
3) Head south from Luminos (along the left split). You'll see a cavern on
the way... you can talk to an old dude there.
4) Keep going south, far south, until you reach a lava cavern at the end.
Note: some parts might look impassable, but they are passable. You should
pass by two lava beds on the way there.

VIII-J. Lava Cavern
1) Use the CONDOR CANE to shoot through solid brick. If you go wild, you'll
reveal monsters and have to fight. Then you'll start over. So don't do
that. Trial and error is key here.
2) Items you can find: KIMAJIN NO YOROI, 1200 Beads, 800 Beads, SAKIMORI NO
TATE, TYPHOON NO KEN, SPIRITER, KAIRIKI HAMMER, HONEY, and LUCIA'S TEARS.
3) Of course, you're here for the DAISUKI NO KO. It's at the upper-right, at
the tip of a small peninsula. But not the FAR upper-right.
4) Leave and return to Luminos Castle.

VIII-K. The matter of the wood
1) Go talk to the King.
2) Warp to Sarai.
3) Go southeast to the hollow tree (Dwarves).
4) Talk to the north guy. Leave. Walk back and talk to him again. You'll
get BIYAKU. (Note: He might not give you the BIYAKU immediately. You should
keep trying at different times of day until it works.)
5) Warp back to Luminos.
6) Go to the castle and talk to the King.
7) He'll go through a secret tunnel to the other castle.

VIII-L. The Third Stone
1) Go back into the secret tunnel.
2) Walk north, and go up the staircase.
3) Hit the big red button to reveal the rest of the continent.
4) Go north, onto the heart island, and go down the staircase there.
5) Take the Lapis Stone.
6) You're done here. Go out.

VIII-M. The Staircases
1) Go south from the red switch, and you'll curve a bit west.
2) At the intersection, go south and then to the far west staircase.
3) Go down and you'll be on the bottom of the world.
4) You'll see two white flags at the top of the screen. They're easy to get
to. Grab the UNICORN HORN and HONEY.
5) You can also take the NAGAREBOSHI NO KONA to the south, and the LUCIA'S
TEARS to the far south.
6) When you've got those, go back north and head east to the HONEY.
7) From there, head south to a staircase. Go through it.
8) You're now at the far north staircase.
9) Make your way south, to a third staircase. Go down it.
10) Go south and get the CORNET.
11) Now head back north and east into a little cul-de-sac. Grab KIMAJIN NO
YOROI and 1800 Beads.
12) Go a little south from there into a staircase.
13) You're back on the upper world. The fourth staircase is visible, but
it's blocked by a rock. Well, it's not really a rock. It's a boss. Talk to
him!

BOSS FIVE: GANTETSU
This guy has a nasty spell that curses your entire party FOREVER. To counter
that, you need to... uh... well actually, I didn't have a counter. Here's
what I did instead. First of all, I boosted defense with Trumpet ALWAYS.
Don't bother knocking defense or boosting attack -- just have the other three
swing their swords. When everyone gets cursed, switch to magic offense
(still using Trumpet to boost defense until you're untouchable). BUT! Keep
in mind -- you have some weapons that can cast spells. When you run out of
MP, be sure to use those. To do this, make sure you have SHINIGAMI NO KAMA,
FLYING MOON, and KAMAITACHI in inventory, not equipped.

Alternate GANTETSU strategy, courtesy of Dark Fact:
Be really high level. 36 or so should be good enough.

VIII-N. Off to Flozac!
1) Walk into the staircase to the north.
2) You'll luge through a long tunnel. In the end, you'll be at Flozac.

===== SECTION IX: Flozac =====

IX-A. Berusu Village
1) Head south to Berusu.
2) Talk to everyone. Be sure to pay the northeast dude 100 beads to sled.
3) After snowballing, grab SAKIMORI NO TATE, 400 Beads, ONIGOROSHI, and BRASS
SUIT.
4) Leave town.

IX-B. Berusu's Dungeon
1) Warp back to Berusu.
2) Bumble through the northern trees to reach a staircase.
3) Head south. At the intersection, go west.
4) Grab the NAGAREBOSHI NO KONA and LUCIA'S TEARS.
5) Head southeast and take the long walk east.
6) At the intersection, go east.
7) Bend northwest and grab the HONEY.
8) Now go back a bit and head northeast.
9) At the intersection, go west. Grab TARANTULA NO KIBA.
10) Now, there are several places you might go. Let's start from the
beginning.

To reach Zonde:
1) Head south. At the intersection, go east.
2) You'll come to another intersection. Bend north, grabbing the SPIRITER.
3) Go back to that intersection, and go east this time.
4) At the quadruple intersection, go north and bend west.
5) Ignore the first staircase. Keep north, and then go FAR west.
6) Go up. Take the left staircase.
7) Two more staircases. If you want a NEMURI NO SONA, take the left one. To
continue onwards, take the right staircase.
8) Grab the SPIRITER.
9) Detour south to get TOKARICCHI NO FUKU and LUCIA'S TEARS.
10) Go east.
11) At the pillared area, walk south along the west wall. Bend east, and
then north along the east wall.
12) Meet Zonde! He has some awesomely powerful spells, and none of your
attacks hurt him. At all. So, uh, you probably shouldn't fight him yet.
Just remember where he is.

To reach Marumero Village:
1) Head south. At the intersection, go east.
2) You'll come to another intersection. Bend north, grabbing the SPIRITER
(if you haven't already).
3) Go back to that intersection, and go east this time.
4) At the quadruple intersection, go north and bend west.
5) Take the first staircase.
6) Go south, ignore the staircase, and bend north. Take that staircase.

To reach the Ancient Ruins, Twin Bridges, or Mountain Cavern:
1) Head south. At the intersection, go east.
2) You'll come to another intersection. Bend north, grabbing the SPIRITER
(if you haven't already).
3) Go back to that intersection, and go east this time.
4) At the quadruple intersection, go east.
5) You'll see a couple branches to the south. Ignore them and go to an
intersection just to the north.
6) If you take the left path, you can get an item (forgot to write what).
7) Take the right path to advance.
8) You'll reach another intersection.
9) Go left to get another undocumented item. Go right to advance.
10) The path will reach yet another intersection.
11) Go left to shortcut to the ANCIENT RUINS.
12) Go right and up the stairs to advance.
13) Follow the path north to an intersection.
14) Go south and bend east to reach a staircase.
15) Go up and you'll reach a Safe Room. When you leave, you'll be at the
TWIN BRIDGES.
16) Skip that staircase and go east to the sandy area to visit MOUNTAIN
CAVERN.

Alternate route to Marumero Village:
1) Go to Twin Bridges.
2) Cross the southern bridge, and wind your way west through tons of
mountains.

Alternate route to the Ancient Ruins:
1) Go to Twin Bridges.
2) Go across the north bridge.
3) Keep making your way north, and then go west at the top of the map.

IX-C. Marumero Village
1) Talk to everyone.
2) From the upper area, grab INOCHI NO GAKUTEN, 120 Beads, 80 Beads, and 380
Beads.
3) Go to the pool near a girl snowman.
4) Use the CORNET. This will summon the reindeer, that will let you walk on
the icy water.

IX-D. Walking on water
1) Go to the leftmost water spot. Ride the reindeer north. Your goal is a
David's Star at the top center.
2) Grab the BANNOU KAGI (skeleton key).
3) If you walk out the south exit, you'll be at Winde. That's... not really
where you want to be.
4) Step on the stone star to go back to Flozac.
5) If you go right, there's another water that you can enter (some can't be
entered).
6) This time, you want to go north towards a citadel.
7) Go up to the second floor and speak to Soza. You'll get SOZA NO YUBIWA
(Soza's Ring).
8) Leave Soza's Citadel.
9) Head north, and bend west around a few trees.
10) Enter the water. This time, the goal is two flags to the north.
11) Grab INAZUMA SABRE and TOKARICCHI NO FUKU.
12) Leave this area.
13) Go southeast, and you'll see another pool tucked amid some trees. Ignore
it. You actually want to go further south, to the left-most of two isolated
pools.
14) You're looking for a wood cabin to the northwest.
15) Talk to the guy. Then leave.

IX-E. Collecting goodies
1) Warp to Guba.
2) Go south and get on your chopper.
3) Land on the western platform.
4) Walk north to the cavern and unlock the door.
5) Grab LUCIA'S DRESS and 6000 Beads.
6) Warp to Luminos.
7) Walk west to the castle.
8) Go to the third floor and unlock the western door.
9) Go downstairs. Speak to the old man and get ROKU NO CHITAA.
10) Warp to Sarai. (for some reason, it froze when I warped to Elshim)
11) Go to the southern Tower.
12) Grab SPIRITER, 8000 Beads, GRIFFON NO TSUME, and 2000 Beads.
13) Head to Nukura Village.
14) Go through the inn to the dungeon.
15) Open the locked door and grab SPIRITER.

IX-F. Ancient Ruins
Note: Bring a ton of TOKARI NO FUKU, but save at least five slots for new
items.
1) Go west, avoiding the roving monster.
2) At the west wall, go south.
3) Follow the path into a room with TALISMAN SUIT and TENCHI NO YOROI.
4) Go back to the first room.
5) Hug the south wall, and walk east.
6) Go south when you can.
7) In the next room, take the east path.
8) This room has two sliding monsters. Stick to the west wall, and take the
top path.
9) You'll reach another room with two sliders. First, take the eastern path.
10) Grab the ASTRA NO TSURUGI.
11) Now, take the western path and go down the staircase.
12) Get the ASTRA NO TATE, HONEY, and INOCHI NO GAKUTEN.
13) Now go back to the room from step 8, but take the bottom path.
14) Follow the paths and staircases. Grab TALISMAN NO TATE along the way.
15) At the next split, go south.
16) Go up the stairs and grab SPIRITER.
17) Return to the split and go west.
18) Continue along the path and stairs until you reach that familiar guy from
the game's prologue!

BOSS SIX: RUDE BAHHA
He has the same annoying tendencies as the fifth boss (the rock dude). This
is where you'll have everyone (except Trumpet, who can cast spells) use the
TOKARI NO FUKU to boost your party's defense to godly levels. Then, if
weakened, you can chip away using magic or items. He's weak to Trumpet's
wind magic (or the INAZUMA SABRE and KAMAITACHI).

Beat him to get the fifth LAPIS STONE.

Afterwards, a new boss -- Zonde -- will appear. Just hit him with an
Ensemble spell and he'll run away, and you'll teleport back to the saferoom
(the one that leads to Twin Bridges).

IX-H. The Old Tree
1) Go back to the hut (walking on water) and talk to the man there.
2) He'll give you GEKKOU NO TOWARE.
3) Go back to the east ice-lake and talk to Queen Soza.
4) She'll give you the KIKIMIMIZUKIN.
5) Leave and walk southwest to the big tree.
6) Stand on the shadow and use the CHITAA. A big bird will carry you off.
7) Now that you have the KIKIMIMIZUKIN, you can speak to the birds.
8) Talk to all the birds.

IX-I. Hot Springs Visit!
1) Travel north-east, towards the hot springs.
2) There are four paths to actually enter. You want to go in the north side.
3) After disrobing, enter the water and head left to the awkward-looking
deadend.
4) Search to get the TOKEI NO TANSHIN.

IX-J. Flying Submarine
1) Warp back to Berusu.
2) Head east to Soza's Palace. Don't go in until night-time.
3) Enter the clock room (staircase on the left).
4) Talk to the clock dude. You'll have to wait a bit.
5) Search the four open doors to get LUCIA'S TEARS, another LAPIS STONE,
TENCHI NO TATE, and QUEEN'S DRESS.
6) Warp to Hens and talk to everyone.
7) Leave Hens.
8) Enter the flying submarine to the north. (.....)
9) If you go west, there's now a bridge to the western tower.

IX-K. Final Tower
1) At the first intersection, go east.
2) At the next split, go north along the left path.
3) Grab the SPIRITER, then go upstairs.
4) Go south and get ASTRA NO YOROI.
5) Head back to the very beginning of the tower.
6) This time, go north.
7) Go west at the split for SPIRITER.
8) Return to the split and go east. Bend west to find 2000 Beads and a
staircase.
9) Go up the stairs.
10) Go east and get MAHI NO HAABU.
11) Go south and get NEMURI NO SUNA.
12) Go north.
13) At the intersection, head northeast.
14) Keep going. Detour north to grab TOKARICCHI NO FUKU.
15) Continue and grab LUCIA'S TEARS. Go up the staircase.
16) Go to the central area.
17) "Search" to get the magic flute.

Now go kick Zonde's ass.

BOSS SEVEN: ZONDE
Play the MATEKI flute. Then follow a pretty standard boss strategy. He'll
either: (1) attack physically, (2) cast a powerful full-party blast, or (3)
weaken one party member. He's really not too bad if you buff up your party
with massive attack power.

Warp back to Pokari, then walk west to the Goddess Shrine. Talk to the main
chick. Then climb onto your boat. Once back on the boat, go to the
smokestack and fall in. Move underneath the big rock to trigger a cinematic
scene.

BOSS EIGHT: GRAND ZONDE
Keep in mind that you now have the BARA NO HANA, which heals the entire party
(48 or 60 HP each). It's reusable an infinite number of times.

Beat him and it's finally, finally, finally THE END.

IvaNEC notes:
Hey, I think I figured out the exact trigger for getting the BIYAKU from the
dwarves if you're interested for the FAQ. I noticed that the dwarves were
saying different things at night than during the day, so I decided to
basically hang around outside their place and go back in every time the sky
changed color. The early morning phase, the one right before the mid-day blue
sky phase, is when the fools gave it to me. I'm pretty sure that time of day
is it, because I didn't do a damn thing in between phases except fight a few
battles. It might be worth noting that someone should just keep trying at
different times of day if early morning doesn't work, as I suppose there's no
guarantee that it'll be early morning for everyone, but that's what it was
for me.

I finally fought the fifth boss. Interestingly, that curse spell that I was
dreading so much only lasted for one turn. After that, the clown just kept
hitting my violin guy for minor damage and casting an occasional weak attack
spell. I was able to beat the living crap out of him with my normal weapons
while he was dawdling around. I wonder if the curse wore off so quickly
because my levels were so high. My guys are at 36 because I love this game so
very much. Or maybe he hit you with a different, more powerful curse spell
and I got off easy.

Another relatively useless thing I noticed is that there are more spells and
ensembles than you have in your FAQ. Did you just get tired of listing them
or did you actually finish the game with levels in the twenties? The flute
guy has a pretty handy spell that heals everyone. And I've seen eight
ensembles (maybe there will be more as I level up). Some of them look and
sound kind of cool, like this purple lady who shows up to use some sort of
magic attack on the enemies. And some are even useful (another heal everyone
technique).
